Clayton Garrett
partner
Clayton is a founding partner of Meristem Communities, a Houston-based real estate development firm committed to creating Places for People™ with mindful, small batch developments. Meristem is a resiliency-focused developer with guiding principles to create human-centric design by thoughtfully, sustainably, and holistically connecting the land and its natural resources with people.
Clayton envisioned a development company that is responsive to two goals; curiosity and generosity. This vision, rooted in practical boots-on-ground (and in the mud) experience, combined with a optimistic view of the human-spirit, sits at the forefront of how Clayton leads and thinks. Staying present, trying to add value to his team, community and company’s mission are core values. Meristem is committed to doing the next right thing over doing any one thing. The Meristem belief is that it’s the sum of a thousand small decisions that creates more engaging, more interesting, and more livable neighborhoods.
Clayton is an entrepreneur, lawyer, and farmer at the intersection of plants + people + place. Before co-founding Meristem, Clayton worked alongside developers, landscape architects, residential architects, and engineers to create unique and exceptional agricultural amenities (agrihoods) within master-planned communities through his co-founding and leading Agmenity. Prior to that, he spent several years serving as an attorney in Texas. He also started, grew, and led multiple businesses.
Clayton is a member of several community organizations including the Urban Land Institute (ULI), where he was selected as a national Product Council member through Residential Neighborhood Development Council. Clayton is a licensed Texas attorney with a doctorate in law from St. Mary’s University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts from The University of Texas at Austin. She will be onsite for the people of Indigo with her team of Community Hosts’ to be a resource with all things from development, builder assistance, HOA, to being a voice for the residents. When first learning about Indigo and the vision both Scott and Clayton had, she had never resonated with something this close as a mother, and person who comes from deep cultural roots within her family. Being a part of a Community created intentionally every step of the way, being a Place for People, was incredibly important for her to help bring the vision to life for the Houston area.
Megan has a background in real estate stemming from childhood assisting her father with clients, hosting model homes, and then later gained a passion for the industry while in customer service and event planning for communities. Her background in Resident Services for rentals and apartments, along with her work for a Builder and Developers, give her a sense of understanding and compassion for any stage residents may be in their lives, and that each stage should be handled with the same level of importance and care. In her freetime, she enjoys spending time with her family, visiting museums, plant nurseries, being in nature or at the beach and trying new and delicious foods! She also has a love for music, art, and antiques!
Her main focus is helping to bring meaning and light into prospective buyers and residents through all stages of their lives. With a passion for people and drive to change the current standards of service within real estate, her goals for Indigo are to bring a sense of belonging, culture, coexisting amongst all, and FUN to all who choose to be a part of Indigo.
